Planning and Organizing a Monthly Event for UCWN

By Susan Metzger

  1. It’s fun (I have done it twice and am looking forward to doing it again, maybe even with one of you!)
  2. It gives you a chance to work with someone else to plan and organize the program, which can be quite enjoyable.
  3. It’s not a lot of work.
  4. It provides an opportunity to meet and get to know someone who you think is doing something interesting in the community.
  5. And/or it provides an opportunity to work with someone you already know to put a program together, to help publicize their work.
  6. You can learn more about UCWN.
  7. It provides a low-risk opportunity to interact with the people running UCWN to see if you’d like to get more involved. (Note: There is no expectation that this is a gateway to becoming more involved in the organization, but you may find that you’d like to do more activities with them.)
  8. It’s free and has no calories (unless you feel that you need to sample the snacks).
  9. Creating a successful program provides a nice sense of accomplishment.
  10. The people attending the program may get to know you a little better.

*The second “together” is intentional.
