Planning and Organizing a Monthly Event for UCWN
By Susan Metzger
- It’s fun (I have done it twice and am looking forward to doing it again, maybe even with one of you!)
- It gives you a chance to work with someone else to plan and organize the program, which can be quite enjoyable.
- It’s not a lot of work.
- It provides an opportunity to meet and get to know someone who you think is doing something interesting in the community.
- And/or it provides an opportunity to work with someone you already know to put a program together, to help publicize their work.
- You can learn more about UCWN.
- It provides a low-risk opportunity to interact with the people running UCWN to see if you’d like to get more involved. (Note: There is no expectation that this is a gateway to becoming more involved in the organization, but you may find that you’d like to do more activities with them.)
- It’s free and has no calories (unless you feel that you need to sample the snacks).
- Creating a successful program provides a nice sense of accomplishment.
- The people attending the program may get to know you a little better.
*The second “together” is intentional.
