We saw the need to amend our Bylaws recently as a couple of members wished to bring their male partners to the last event as guests. As much as we hate to say “no,” after an emergency discussion we voted to not allow people identifying as male to attend.
The preference survey we did last year showed that 25% of respondents disliked the idea of men attending events, 30% liked the idea, and 45% had no preference. In light of these polarizing statistics, we’ve opted to maintain the status quo of allowing only people who identify as female to attend. Unfortunately, our report to membership did not cite these preferences; in hindsight, I see this was an error of omission. Read about the survey results here.
