In honor of Black History Month, UCWN is thrilled have acclaimed international vocal artist, pianist, and actress Goldee Greene speak about “Viva the Divas! Three African-American Opera Singers of the 1800s.”

Join us on Zoom on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, for a fun-filled evening starting at 6:30 p.m. for open chat, then at 7:00 Goldee speaks about Elizabeth Greenfield, Marie Selika Williams, and Matilda Sissieretta Joyner Jones—African-American opera singers who contributed to cultural change by breaking the color barrier. (Two were born into slavery.) Goldee has immortalized them in her history-based drama with music, entitled “Dear Lizzie, Selike, and Sissieretta.” Goldee will delight us with arias representing the three pioneers of opera. We will close with an interactive and inspiring conversation with Goldee.
