To commemorate Women’s History Month, Deborah A. Zuill will speak via Zoom about her experience portraying Ulster County-born Sojourner Truth. Sojourner Truth overcame enormous obstacles to become a nationally-known speaker and activist for equal rights and justice. Originally named Isabella, Truth was born a slave in 1797 in the rural Town of Esopus. Smithsonian Magazine named her one of the 100 Most Significant Americans. Deborah has portrayed Truth annually for the last two decades at the Hurley Stone House Tours and has performed at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Mass. She has also performed at the Coxcoskie Library, SUNY Middletown, the Old Dutch Church in Kingston, the Hurley Reformed Church in Hurley, the DAR Museum in Kingston, and Kingston High School.
