Amalthea, or “Ama,” spiritual guide, healer, channel, and independent researcher, presents the sacred shamanic perspective of mental illness and outlines a simple guide to peace. She will discuss wisdom from many different spiritual teachings, including Buddhism, as well as inter-tribal shamanism and the individualistic nature to healing. Through the use of this information as a guide for becoming curious about our suffering, we can begin to connect to our own inner wisdom beckoning us to question and come into relationship with our own hearts, minds, and unique human expression. This perspective bridges the gap between modern psychiatry and ancient wisdom with the ultimate goal of developing a holistic, sacred, psychiatric guide for overcoming mental illness and promoting healing.
This presentation will also include interactive demonstrations and a guided meditation.
About the presenter
Amalthea has dedicated her life to learning and sharing the sacred traditions of humanity. She has worked in the field of mental health with at-risk youth and children with high psychiatric needs since 2009. Ama has been researching sacred shamanic initiatory rights of passage and healing methods since she experienced a spontaneous shift in her consciousness five years ago. This experience led her on a path to recovery from debilitating life long depression, bi-polar syndrome, and PTSD. She is currently writing a book about her personal path to peace and freedom.
