Over a 45-year career, Christine Herbes-Sommers has produced dozens of educational and long-form national documentaries on issues of contemporary importance for PBS. Many earned prestigious awards, among them two DuPont Columbia awards, the National Academy of Science Best TV Award, and several American Academy of History awards. Her films are notably all in current release with a wide viewership. Each is accompanied by educational resources. She co-founded and ran Vital Pictures until its closure in 2017. She is a resident of Stone Ridge, NY.
What Time Is Left is a collaboration with Dakin Henderson, the director and major character in the film. It grew out of a larger Coming of Age in Aging America documentary.

A respected producer, her credits include the Celebrating Aging in Film series and this summer’s inaugural Dying To Know Film Festival. Caren is a board member of the Rosendale Theatre and advisor to the Circle of Friends for the Dying in Kingston, NY.
