Dear Members and Friends,

Our exciting program on October 8 features two fabulous representatives of our Ulster County government. We can listen to their plans and they can hear us, which can lead to subtle but impactful quality of life improvements. Express yourselves! Manna Jo Greene is a national treasure for the environment and has been recognized by the County Legislature for her lifetime achievements. Gina Hansut is deeply involved in committees to support law enforcement and public safety; both important issues for our community service heroes that benefit us all. Thank you to both of them for caring, sharing, and listening to us, so that they can carry our ideas to continue to improve our county.

In November, we have two UCWN member friends, Jacquie Wolfe and Sue Diamond, sharing vital information on Medicare updates and insurance options as the enrollment period for changes is upon us. Bring your questions and get a sense of the best options for you and your health coverage needs.

In December, we will have a dinner get together with a holiday theme so that we can chat about our New Year’s plans and resolutions. Bring your list to share so that we can all benefit from the great ideas to go into the New Year healthier, happier, and with the comfort of our friends and families. Place to be decided soon.

With gratitude for the amazing work past president Leslie Snow has continued to offer with our website, email blasts, and social media, UCWN will be moving to a Squarespace website platform for friendier, easier navigation and updating of events and news, and improved security against hacking. She has been developing her website business, Good Karma Design, and, while stepping off her official role with UCWN, will train us on how to manage our new website and marketing. It will be ready in time our Valentine’s Day event in February 2025. Thank you, Leslie, for keeping this boat afloat!

Thank you, Sheila, for being the VP with the mostest, a co-president with the leadership talent that keeps UCWN going and creating the get togethers we all benefit from. She will be speaking at the December dinner about volunteer opportunities to assist the many agencies in Ulster County that are of service to our community. Get Involved. Be engaged! Thank you, Sheila, for keeping it all together.

January is an off month for an event, but we can schedule informal walks and get togethers. Happy Holidays and New Year!

Much love and wishes for health and happiness,

Gloria Waslyn
